Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area and currently residing in Sacramento, Kevin James' love of music began at an early age when he received a guitar for his 5th birthday. His love of music has remained a constant since that time. While still in high school, Kevin landed his first job working for San Jose radio station Hot 97.7, He eventually earned his own nightly show at the station before moving on to San Francisco’s Wild 107.7. Kevin's passion for music only progressed from there.
First introduced to house music through the underground rave scene in the early 1990’s, Kevin was heavily influenced by dj’s such as Doc Martin, Mark Farina, DJ Sneak, Derrick Carter, Miguel Migs, Terry Francis and “Evil” Eddie Richards. Other major influences included SF’s own legendary dj’s Tony, Jeno, Garth, Thomas, Markie and Simon from The Gathering, Wicked, and Come-unity crews.
Kevin’s own sound behind the decks is a blend of these influences. Check out his new mix series Sustained Grooves, a deep journey into the underground sounds of house. The series is sure sure to please, ranging from the deep, funky and soulful side of house, to full blown acid drenched tech house.
